Frozen Buttercream transfer

This is the pic that was wanted on a cake. In buttercream not an edible image..so I did a frozen buttercream transfer

I had the pic enlarged at the UPS store it cost 1.05 to make it a 11x13. I then taped the image to the back of a cookie sheet. Then taped wax paper over that. Make sure it will not move. Then I outlined it in black.

Then I mixed my icing and started filling in the outline. Then once I was happy with that I took some white icing (because the cake it was going on was going to be iced in white) and spread it all over it pressing lightly to smother out the colored icing as well as remove air pockets. Once that was done I placed it in the freezer overnight.

I prepared the cake for the transfer..( leveled iced) then took the cookie sheet with the transfer on it out of the freezer..(fingers crossed) I ran a knife over the tape to loosen it from the cookie sheet. Then carefully lifted the transfer and flipped it over slowly onto the cake. Then carefully peeled off the wax paper. and this is what i got.  I was not very happy with this to rough...so i decided to outline it again(while on the cake) and then small star tip filled it in...

And this is what i got...liked this much better. I will try another frozen buttercream transfer soon..but i will do one with less detail....

How to make a Dark Chocolate peanut butter cup barrel cake

You will need about 20 peanut butter cups, about 50 kit kat sticks..they come in pairs so about 25 pairs, and this is for an 8 in  two layer cake. you will need more for bigger cakes.

And your cake! This is dark chocolate fudge but you can use whatever you like. Baked, cooled and leveled.
(Recipe is under the recipe tab)

Place about 10 peanut cups in a zip lock bag

and crush...

put in your peanut butter butter cream and mix well

this is my taste tester.!!!

Once your candies are mixed in the icing spread on bottom layer then on top layer..

I then use plain butter cream to ice the sides then start adding you kit kats. I sometimes have to add a little more butter cream to the backs of the kit kats to make them stick..it is a bit dry in my house.

once you have all you cake covered in kit kats ...crush the rest of your peanut butter cups and place on top clean up your board and you may want to add a bow around the barrel ...if you are taking it some where I would advise putting a bow on it at least until you make it where your going..

and with the left over butter cream and the cake that was cut off when leveling I make cake balls.

marshmallow flower cupcakes

My 9 yr old bakes strawberry cucpcakes..leaving them a little low in the cups..works better without a crown.
When cooled..we put colored sugar in bowls. The cut mini marshmallow on a slant, dropping the cut marshmallow right into the color you want to use.

Put a nice layer of buttercream on your cupcake.. then start placing the sugared marshmallows on your cupcake starting on the outside edge. Then work your way to the center.

Mix and Match or do one solid color...I like the multi color ones myself.

Cupcake Bouquet

Choose a pot you want to use. Then get a styrofoam ball that fits that pot. Cut ball in half. I used hot glue to secure the ball half to the top of this planter.

I baked and allowed to cool my cupcakes. Ploted out were they were going, then removed them. ( now I use empty cupcake papers to do this...live and learn...)

Once I had done all that, It was time to decorate.

I used unused cupcake papers to fill in the gags.( I now paint the ball to match..less waste)

Here it is all done..My grandmother loved it..(It was for her 79th birthday)

To make your Cupcake Topiary Tree you'll need:

1 Terracotta pot

Floral Foam

12 inch floral foam ball

12 inch dowel

Brown Paint

Pink Paint

Mini cupcake liners 24

Straight Pins

Toothpicks

Directions:

Fill the terracotta pot with floral foam, and insert a 12 inch dowel or thick stick in foam. If you're using a dowel you'll need to paint it brown before placing it. Paint a 12 inch floral foam ball pink and let dry. This can take an hour, be sure it's all the way dry. Push the ball down onto the dowel that's already been anchored into the pot. Using straight pins and cupcake papers to plot your cupcake design, then place real cupcakes in each spot removing the pins and papers used for plotting as you go. Attach cupcakes (all ready decorated.) using 3 toothpicks poked halfway into the bottom of each cupcake and press them into the ball
You can also use a larger dowel with to different size balls..I like to put the toothpicks in the ball first then add the cupcake that way i am not trying to press toothpicks and cupcakes and mashing my cupcakes.
